We Need More Black Women in The C-Suite: Here’s Why

My journey has taken me from Jamaica 🇯🇲 to the United States 🇺🇸, with a few years spent living in Asia and Europe. Along the way, I've had diverse experiences that have presented me with complexities and challenges.

I recall being advised to "dumb down" my approach, which was a confusing moment for me.

While I don't usually discuss these topics here, it's essential to understand that the need for women of color in leadership positions is not a passing trend. It's an ongoing movement that needs to be woven into every company's business strategy.

There is a need for more Black women in the C-Suite, highlighting the "Urgency of Now."

We don't just deserve a seat at the table; often, it feels like we're carrying the entire table.

Trailblazers such as Patricia Lewis, Carla Vernón, and Debra Lee have demonstrated that we must work harder, exceed expectations, set ourselves apart, and smash through the glass ceiling. However, from my perspective, I don't perceive any glass ceiling. A ceiling still suggests a limitation, and I'm determined not to limit my boundless potential.

It's not just about race; it's about amplifying diverse voices. Companies can only address real-world problems effectively once corporate boards genuinely reflect our diverse nation. It's more than just representation; it's about recognizing the immense purchasing power of Black consumers.

Reflecting on the journeys of extraordinary Black female leaders like Paula Madison, I'm reminded of the incredible power of determination. I'm committed to breaking down barriers, promoting diversity, and working towards a more inclusive and fair corporate landscape.
